The Dog is a cosy public house, which has been running for 500 years. It is a traditional country pub located between Ewyas Harold Village store and post office and the Temple Bar. Some outdoor seating. TV, pool table, log burner.

A traditional drover’s inn place where rustic meets cool and hip! A more expensive option: posh-yet-yummy portions lovingly created from local produce. A pretty exquisite choice – and well worth the trip up the valley!
The Cornewall Arms, Clodock, HR2 0PD
Step back in time at this little gem in the tiny hamlet of Clodock. Old-fashioned games, a whole lot of history and a real, country, cosy pub feel. Enclosed beer garden. Lovely church and river next door.
Under The Nut Tree, Kentchurch, HR2 0DD 07799 645491
Open March till Christmas. Not a restaurant as such, but a unique dining experience nestled within the Kentchurch estate. Set menus from £55pp and bring your own booze on a Friday and Saturday. Simon and family use local ingredients to create their famous ‘long slow and smoky’ BBQ delights. Dining is usually out under the tree, but there’s an undercover ‘magical barn’ area in case of bad weather.

Open all day, every day, a family run British gastropub in a real-ale tavern with views over the nearby hills and forests. Food served midday till 8.15pm.Breakfast 9am till 11am on the weekends and a fab Sunday lunch (hours vary depending on the season).

The completely unique Cider Shack has been more than a year in the making.You may have seen it on the telly – it was a star of the BBC’s ‘My Unique B&B’. This cosy cabin suits couples or solo travellers who adore the outdoors and crave the quirky but love a few little luxuries (such as the famous outdoor bath!).

The Cider Shack has a cottage-shaped cousin: Yarlington Dairy. It’s a beautiful new holiday let with stunning views of the Monnow Valley. Quiet, comfortable and boasting a luxury bath in the bedroom, it’s perfect for couples on their own, or with a baby or toddler (and/or a dog or two)!

Penylan Farm is kinda close to everywhere but feels miles from anywhere. Cardiff and Bristol are an hour and Birmingham about 90 minutes. We’ve a licenced shop stocked full of our cider and perry plus a range other goodies from other local producers. Sit, relax and enjoy a few free tastings!
